What is conveyancing?
It’s quite funny how often I am asked this question! And it’s often funnier to hear what people actually think we do… “Oh, so you are the people that stand on the roads with those measuring tri-pods?” No, not exactly. That’s a surveyor.
These sorts of conversations don’t lend to much time for an in-depth job description. It is often just finished off with ‘we assist with buying and selling property’. And it is that, but it is also so much more…
A conveyancer is on your team.
We are there to protect you in this big step of either buying or selling property. This isn’t something that people do every day unless you are a developer or someone who enjoys the thrills of flipping houses (something I’d love to do but severely lack the skills in… what is a band saw for anyway?)
We take on a matter with you in mind. Who is our client, what does our client want. What does our client need? Sometimes our clients don’t know what they need and it is important for me to be able to point things out to my clients to make them aware or possibly solve a problem before it even becomes one by just pointing out a potential issue.
Guiding you through the entire process.
Guiding you through the conveyancing process, prompting you with things you need to attend to and even reminding you of processes you need to undertake in order to be complying with the Contract terms, is another thing we pride ourselves in. We are all busy. The majority of my clients are all working. Even those clients who spend their days at home with kids are not thinking about easements or restrictions on title but rather why their child suddenly has a handful of chocolate and do they intercept it or continue listening to me in peace and quiet. I get it. I’m one of them. And so ensuring that we get the information to you in the easiest way possible is another thing we pride ourselves in.
But what about those extra questions you have?
One thing I say to my clients is, I get conveyancing. I live it. I do it everyday. But for those who don’t, there is no silly question. Just the other day I had to ask my concreter something three times. Simply because I don’t understand the process. Knowing this and seeing my concreter’s patience reminds me to treat everyone with the understanding that they may not understand. And helping them to understand makes the process more pleasant for all involved, but particularly our clients, which is our aim.
You are family.
How do we want people assisting my parents, grandparents, siblings, husband and children? We want them treated well. With kindness, patience and understanding. So that’s what we do at Insight Conveyancing.
